International Math Bee®
International Math Bee® (IMB) is a global educational game-based learning platform that helps elementary math students build fundamental math skills through play. Founded in 2006 by Dr. S. David Vaillancourt as the nonprofit National Math Bee®, IMB has grown into a worldwide platform reaching students in over 20 countries.
what we do
BatterUp® and cognitive math skills
BatterUp®, IMB’s math baseball game, is built to strengthen the cognitive skills behind math fluency, fast, accurate recall of number facts, working-memory speed under light time pressure, and pattern recognition across addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
The game’s algorithm was developed over nearly two decades of classroom and at-home use and validated by a doctoral research study; every student group tested showed statistically significant improvement in math skills.
A real-time, anonymous ranking system ,classroom, school, state, national, international, gives parents and teachers a clear, ongoing picture of a child’s cognitive math progress, not just a final score.

Executive Director, International Math Bee®
With over a decade of experience in education and edtech innovation, Emily Bowman has been a key collaborator alongside Dr. Vallaincourt in driving the growth and modernization of the International Math Bee® since 2013. As Executive Director, she leads the organization’s online programs, manages engagement with a thriving community of over 5,000 students and 1,000 parents, and oversees the strategic development of IMB’s educational technology platforms.
